ow cut shoes, short point, 14th century
An earlier work of mine, several years old, with short point (about 10% of length)
These shoes feature a top band, a tongue, a buckle attachement and a rand. They are turn-welt shoes.
The shoe itself.
What would I do different?
Not much, just do cleaner work and hand cast the buckles

The top band, attached with butted seam and a edge/flesh stitch, then folded and secured with a whip stitch.

The rand. Here can be seen, after years of use, how the rand is in fact just strip of leather that goes around the shoe. I choose to join the strip at the instep.

Just an inside view of the shoe.
