In 1996 the first Midnight Tournament was held at Edzell Castle under the inspiration of Count Sir Garrick.
The idea of a tournament company was first raised by count Sir Garrick von kopke in early 1997. Under his leader Sir Michael de Lacy, Lord Arafel Christian and Lord Michael de Brad were asked to join and the Company of the Swan was formed. A proclamation to that effect was made and a Charter was produced and signed at the Insula Drcaonis Summer Tourney in June 1997. The motto of the Company was Alea Honouris Solutae.
The Swan held its first "event" at the War of the Roses in England in July 1997. The members of the Company holding a bridge against all comers.
Every year since then, the Midnight Pas at Warbands has been sponsored by the Company of the Swan.
The original members are noted above. In addition Both Sir Gilliam and (now) Sir Edmund of Oakcastle were asked to join. The intent was to have members spread across Drachenwald.
Today, the Company of the Swan has been reformed, with new gentles willing to take on the challenge.
